School History
The Seng Khasi School was founded by the Seng Khasi Organisation, an indigenous organisation whose aim is to uphold the Khasi way of thinking, culture and tradition. When it was established, it was known as the Seng Khasi Free Morning School, as no school fees were charged from the students. Babu Rash Mohon Roy Nongrum was the first Secretary-cum-Head Teacher from the day of inception till the end of 1954. He taught the children not only the three “Rs” but also laid emphasis on moral and spiritual teachings. He felt that it is most vital to mould a child so that they come up to be healthy citizens of the country. Till then, these teachings are implemented in the school curriculum.
